Hemp Basics {in 60 Seconds}
From ancient Chinese medical remedies to the first study examining its effects on epilepsy in 1980, Hemp CBD has played a unique and invaluable role throughout human history. Thanks to growing research, this ancient ingredient has once again taken central stage in our modern world.
But what is it, how does it work and why is it in our products? All of these questions and more are covered below in our Hemp Basics Guide.

Where is Hemp grown?
Hemp is grown all around the world, especially in North America, Europe and China.
Verdant Tip: Always choose products with Hemp organically grown in America; products using imported Hemp may be at risk for heavy metals and other toxins.

What is CBD?
It is one of more than 100 naturally-occurring compounds {Cannabinoids} found in the stems, leaves and buds of the Hemp plant.
Verdant Tip: CBD is just one of many compounds found in a full spectrum “Hemp Extract”; always review a product’s Certificate of Analysis (CoA) to verify the specific CBD levels.

What is THC?
THC is the psychoactive compound found in both Marijuana and, to a lesser extent, Hemp. It is best know for the "high" it can provide.
Verdant Tip: Some companies may define "No THC" as up to 0.3% THC; always review a product’s CoA to verify that there are no traces of THC.

Is Hemp the same as Marijuana?
While Hemp and Marijuana are members of the same plant family (along with Hops!), they differ dramatically in their appearance, cultivation, applications and THC to CBD ratio; while Marijuana may have up to 30% THC, industrial Hemp grown in America should remain at or below 0.3%.
Verdant Tip: Always review a product’s CoA to verify which ingredients are used and how much of each is included.

Is Hemp CBD the same as Hemp Seed Oil?
While both offer wonderful benefits, Hemp CBD (and the other naturally-occurring Cannabinoids in our Hemp Extract) are unique to the stems, leaves and buds of the plant, whereas Hemp Seed Oil is extracted from the seeds alone.
Verdant Tip: Packaging adorned with Hemp leaves, marketing phrases like “destress” and ingredients marked as “Cannabis Sativa” don’t necessarily indicate the presence of CBD.

Are your products just Hemp CBD?
Our industry-leading full spectrum, THC-free Hemp Extract ingredient includes more than 80% CBD, as well as dozens of other beneficial Cannabinoids and Terpenes. Together, they create a much more effective solution in what is known as the “Entourage Effect”.
Verdant Tip: Lower quality oils will have a limited array of other Cannabinoids and Terpenes, if any; always review a product’s CoA to verify the exact ingredients and potency levels.

How can Hemp CBD help me?
CBD, along with other Cannabinoids found in the Hemp plant, is uniquely able to support the body's Endocannabinoid System, a network of receptors located throughout the body that establish
and maintain our health and well being– affecting everything from sleep, inflammation, pain, mood, digestion and more.

Does it actually work?

Verdant Tip: Be wary of any brands that make unverified health claims; a quick online search will reveal which brands have received Warning Letters from the FDA as a result of such misleading activity.

When can I expect to feel the effects?
Results vary with each person’s unique Endocannabinoid system. While some may feel an immediate impact, others may take a bit more time before noticing a meaningful difference.
Verdant Tip: Start slow, stay consistent and gradually increase until you find the right levels for you!
